Friends and family remember Brian and donate £2000 to Grove House
Pamela Meade and her daughter Zoe visited the hospice this week and presented the team with a cheque for £2000.
"It made such a difference to the whole family to have Brian at home," said Pamela, "it gave us confidence to know that we could pick up the phone even at four in the morning and know that there would be someone who could help. It really made the whole experience very much easier to get through, nurses were on hand for whatever Brian needed; they made him comfortable and helped the whole family. I cannot thank the teams enough for all they did."
Brian's funeral took place at St John's Church in Harpenden, "The church was packed, " continued Pamela, "and it was lovely to see so many of Brian's friends from the Harpenden Village Rotary Club there. We asked for donations instead of flowers, and I am delighted that we have been able to donate £2000 to the Hospice at Home Team at Grove House. We hope that other local families can experience the difference that home nursing care can make."
Grove House Hospice at Home currently offers twenty-four hour seven day a week support to patients at just six local surgeries across St Albans and Harpenden. The hospice is working tirelessly to secure funding to provide this much needed service to all patients in this area, to add to the service already offered by local District Nurses.
