Golf Day bags record amount
This annual event, now in its sixth year, was held at Aldwickbury Park Golf Club earlier this summer. Over ninety enthusiastic golfers from all over the country took part, with another thirty guests arriving for the evening's dinner and entertainment.
Local golfer, Peter Miller commented, "The day was most enjoyable and really well organised, the course is beautifully kept and in excellent condition, we didn't win this year, but will certainly be back to have a go next year."
During the evening, guests enjoyed a three course meal and entertainment provided by Magic Circle member, Nicholas Einhorn, who will be the star attraction at the Grove House Magic Evening on 13th November.
Organizer Mike Hodge said "I am delighted that the day was such a success, I would like to say a huge thank you to General Manager, Tristan Hall and the staff at Aldwickbury Park Golf Club. I would also like to thank the local businesses who sponsored the day, including John Curtis Estate Agents, Deloittes, Taylor Walton, Harpenden Windows and the Harpenden Building Society."
"Grove House is a very special place; I know they have to raise more money than ever before to continue to provide their excellent services to local people living with cancer and life threatening illness, I am glad to be able to support their work in this way."
Grove House Fundraising Director, Paul Parrish said, "Mike and his wife Sarah have been running this golf event for six years now; in that time they have raised almost £40,000 to support the hospice. We are extremely grateful for this level of generous support, on behalf of all our patients, I'd like to say a huge thank you to Mike."
