What is available from the Family Support Services Department?

  • Free and confidential counselling
  • Information and emotional support for families
  • Counselling for young people
  • Bereavement support
  • Specialist Play Therapy for children
  • Benefits information
  • Support, advocacy and advice
  • Cancer the Next Step - group work programme for newly diagnosed people aged 18-60

Who can access the service?

  • People with cancer or another life-threatening illness and their families and carers
  • Children aged 4 to 12 for Play Therapy
  • Anyone who has been bereaved through cancer and lives in the St.Albans, Harpenden or Hemel Hempstead area
  • Other healthcare professionals for consultation and advice

Grove House offers bereavement support where the death has been from cancer or any other life-limiting illness, to family, carers and friends.

Services offered:

  • Individual counselling, including young people
  • Bereavement Visitors
  • Telephone support
  • Play therapy for 4-11 year olds
  • Consultation and advice for professional and families
  • Social Support Groups
